Model Harry Uzoka killed in latest London stabbing

A 25 year old model, Harry Uzoka was fatally stabbed in Shepherd's Bush last Thursday.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"Police have not formally identified the victim but he has been named on social media and in reports as Harry Uzoka, who was signed to Premier Model Management which helped launch the careers of models such as Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer."

When the news spread about on social media many celebrities spoke about how they felt for the loss of the young model.

These included a fellow model, Jordan Dunn and singer, MNEK.

Jordan Dunn had described him as a "young King".

MNEK tweeted, "SHOCKED. I met him various times and thought he was always so cool. my heart goes out to his family. RIP.”

The online clothing retailer Everlane described Uzoka as “a wonderful model but even more so a good person and a pleasure to work with.”

Another fashion brand called London Fashion Brand described him as a " special soul".
Overall, I think it's sad that innocent people are still being killed for the wrong reasons even though it's a new year.

In the society we live in today, it has almost become a norm, that if someone has been killed as a result of a knife attack or shooting, however if it's a celebrity the news is spread via social media, but if it's a normal individual, the news will only be sent to the local news and not spread via social media so that others from around the world as well as celebrities can share their support especially with the individual's family.

According to the telegraph, an online newspaper, they claim that knife crime has gone up to 14% because gang warfare is becoming 'embedded' in our culture.
From the background of the newspaper, we know that the newspaper expresses views of the conservative party who is on the right side of the political spectrum. Their views support the rich and middle class people of society and have views which are against those of lower classes in society and mostly blame them for the problems in society.

What the telegraph is trying to say,is that the actions of gangs across London has become part of 'our culture', meaning that it has become a norm. However, knife crime is still low, but appears in the news almost every week. In addition to this, most of the knife is not linked to gang violence, but to other crimes such as terrorism and racism.

On the other hand, according to the independent, they state the number of crimes which took place last year which was 80, and according to the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, it's "truly unusual and extraordinary" for these crimes to take place at once and that there's many other factors to explain why there's an increase in knife crime.

As compared to other people who have been killed in the past, whether they are teenagers or not, it's usually hard to find the people who killed them and give them longer sentences, whereas, with celebrities like Harry Uzoka, the criminals have already been caught and appeared in court.

To conclude, there seems to be slight improvement in cases like this, in terms of the police catching the criminals straight away.

The story is from the Guardian which is a British daily newspaper that expresses centre- left views.
